“I feel very fortunate managing creative education and being a creative, painting, drawing and weaving

Biography

Being creative is incredibly important to me. I can remember constantly drawing, painting and making as a child. The pleasure gained from it and the importance of continuing to be creative has never left me.

My degree from the Royal College of Art is in Textiles specialising in Fashion Knitwear. I am a member of the ‘British Tapestry Group Eastern Region’ and have been weaving since 2015.

My long standing day job sees me managing Adult Education for the Creative Industries in East London.

Formally I was Head of School for Croydon School of Art, having successfully led the Fashion and Textiles department for many years.  I played a key role in creating and organising the borough’s then ‘Festival of Creativity’ and stand-alone graduate fashion shows, which went on tour at the AOC and the NEC.

I have worked professionally as a knitwear designer in the UK and Italy for luxury brands including Hardy Amies, DKNY and Laura Biagiotti and Coin SpA. I have worked on individual designer collections shown at London Fashion Week. My work was also featured in the fashion journal Collezioni.

I have a BSc (Hons) Textile Design and Technology from the University of Huddersfield and an MA from the Royal College of Art in 1995.
